Since the mining operation began in the 1920's, Peoria Concrete Construction Co. has been a leader in washed sand and gravel (state approved).  In 1989, Roanoke Concrete Products purchased the mining operation and incorporates the sand and gravel into the manufacturing of ready-mix concrete and masonry units.  Various types of aggregate products are manufactured and available for contractors, landscapers, and individuals.
